Lesson 1
1. triumph- something that is a triumph is a great success or achievement.
2. divine- If you call something divine, you are saying it is so wonderful if seems to come from out of this world!
3. dazzle- Something that dazzles you is so bright or so beautiful that it makes it hard to see.
4. vanish- If someone or something vanishes, they disappear suddenly in a way that can't be explained.
5. stupefy- If something stupefies you, it surprises you so much that its hard to think.
6. crave- If you crave something, you want it so much you can hardly think of anything else.
7. dejected- when you are dejected, you feel sad because you've been disappointed by something.
8. fulfill- When a wish, dream, or hope is fulfilled, it comes true.
Lesson 2
1. cubicle- a cubicle is a small, enclosed space that is used for a particular activity.
2. bail- If you bail out of a situation, you get out of it because it is getting difficult or dangerous.
3. reinforce- If you reinforce something, you add something else to it to make it stronger or harder.
4. expel- To expel something means to force it out.
5. abandon- Abandoning something means leaving it behind when you don't want to or should not.
6. impetuous- Someone who is impetuous does things quickly, without thought or care.
7. dilemma- A dilemma is a situation without an easy solution, usually because all the choices are equally good or equally bad.
8. resolutely- If you do something resolutely, you do it without changing your mind or giving up.
Lesson 3
1. scoff- If you scoff at something, you talk about it in a way that shows you think its silly.
2. assail- To assail something or someone is to attack them physically or verbally
3. optimistic- If you are optimistic, you are hopeful and look at things in a positive way.
4. lament- If you lament something, you say how sad you are about it.
5. steadfast-If you are steadfast in doing something, you will not give up or be stopped from doing it.
6. decisive-If you are decisive, you make decisions quickly without changing your mind later.
7. gratifying- Something gratifying makes you feel happy and proud of what you've done.
8. resigned- If you are resigned to a bad situation, you accept it without complaining because you can't change it.
Lesson 4
1. eliminate- If you eliminate something, you remove it completely.
2. stationary-Something that is stationary is not moving.
3. incredulous-If you are incredulous, you can't believe something because it is very surprising.
4. contender- A contender is someone who competes to win a contest or an election, usually with a good chance of winning.
5. grimace-When you grimace, you twist your face in an ugly way because you are in pain or don't like something.
6. fatigue- If you feel fatigue, you feel very, very tired.
7. stamina- Someone who has stamina can do something tiring for a long time.
8. foil- If you foil someone's attempt to do something, you stop them from doing it.
Lesson 5
1. fume- if you fume about something, you talk or think about it in an angry way.
2. rummage-rummaging through something means searching for something you want by moving things around in a hurried way.
3. hypnotic- Something that is hypnotic holds your attention so much that you can't think of anything else.
4. opponent- An opponent is someone who is against you in a game, contest, or election.
5. glum- If you are glum, you are sad and quiet because you are unhappy about something.
6. dedication- If you show dedication to something, you give it a lot of time and effort because you care so much about it.
7. seclusion- If you are in seclusion, you are in a quiet place away from other people.
8. victorious- You are victorious if you win a contest, sport or battle.
Lesson 6
1. lodge- If an object lodges somewhere, it gets stuck there.
2. feverish- If you do something feverishly, you do it very quickly, as if you need to finish it as soon as possible.
3. tactic- A tactic is something you do to try to get what you want.
4. disband- If a group disbands, it stops doing things together as a group.
5. ingenuity- If you have ingenuity, you are good at finding new ways to solve problems and make things.
6. anonymous- If you are anonymous, other people don't know your name or that you were the one who did something.
7. crucial- If something is crucial, it is very important.
8. formative- A formative experience is one that plays an important part in the kind of person you become.
Lesson 7
1. levitate- If someone or something levitates, they appear to rise and float in the air without anything to support them.
2. neglect- If you neglect something, you fail to take care of it properly.
3. stifle- If you stifle something that is happening, you force it to stop.
4. astray- Something that has gone astray has gone missing while it is on its way somewhere.
5. alibi- If you have an alibi for something, you can prove that it was not your fault or you were somewhere else when it happened.
6. enigma- Something that is an enigma is mysterious and difficult to understand.
7. escapade- A daring adventure or action can be called an escapade.
8. notorious-To be notorious means to be well-known for something bad.
Lesson 8
1. lurch- if you lurch, you make a sudden jerky movement forward.
2. primp- If you primp, you take a long time getting ready because you are picky about how you look.
3. putrid- Something that is putrid is rotten and smells awful.
4. rowdy- If people are rowdy, they are noisy and rough and may end up causing trouble.
5. jovial- If someone is jovial, they are happy and behave in a cheerful way.
6. outlandish- If something is outlandish, it is weird and unlikely to happen.
7. allure- The allure of something is the way it is attractive or exciting.
8. suave- Someone who is suave is charming, polite, and elegant, but may not be sincere.
Lesson 9
1. jolt- If something gives you a jolt, it moves you in a sudden and hard way.
2. pry- If you pry something that is stuck, you force it to move or open.
3. prospect- The prospect of something is the chance that it might happen.
4. incident- An incident is an event, usually an unpleasant one.
5. dumbfounded- When you are dumbfounded, you are so surprised that you don't know what to say.
6. vindicate- A person who is vindicated is proved to be right after others said they were wrong.
7. isolated- If something is isolated, it is separate and away from everything else.
8. refurbish- If you refurbish something, you make it look like it did when it was new.
Lesson 10
1. navigate- If you navigate something, you find a way to move on, through, or around it.
2. phenomenal- Someone or something that is phenomenal is unusual because it is SO good.
3. sedate- If a person or animal is sedate, they are quiet and don't get excited easily.
4. mandate- If you mandate something, you declare it MUST be done.
5. astute- Someone who is astute is very good at understanding things.
6. superior- If something is superior, it is far better than something else.
7. humanitarian- A humanitarian works to improve the lives of people who are suffering.
8. accolade- If someone is given an accolade, something is done or said about them that shows how much people admire them.
Lesson 11
1. thrive- when somebody thrives, they do well and are successful, healthy or strong
2. aroma- Something’s aroma is how it smells
3. coordination- a person with good coordination can move several parts of their body at the same time without getting mixed up
4. surly- someone who is surly behaves in a rude, bad-tempered way
5. pulverize- when you pulverize something, you crush, pound, or grind it into tiny pieces
6. adversary- if you are competing against or fighting with someone, they are your adversary
7. antic- antics are funny, silly or unusual ways of acting
8. mortify- of something mortifies you, it offends or embarrassed you a great deal
Lesson 12
1. ricochet- When something ricochets, it hits a surface and bounces back from it.
2. fragment- A fragment of something is a small piece or part of it.
3. radiance- Something’s radiance is a glowing light that shines from it.
4. dwindle- If something dwindles, it becomes smaller, weaker or fewer in number
5. auspicious- Something that is auspicious is a sign that more good things are on the way.
6. fleeting- If you cannot fathom something, you can’t understand it, no matter how much you think about it

8. newsworthy- something that is newsworthy is interesting enough to be reported in newspapers, on the radio, or on television

1. muster- If you muster something, you gather as much of it as you can in order to do something.
2. compact- If you compact something together, you press it together to make it smaller or more solid.
3. scrawl- If you scrawl something, you write it in a careless and messy way.
4. crevice- A narrow crack or gap is called a crevice.
5. seldom- If something seldom happens, it only happens every once in a while.
6. repulsive- Something that is repulsive is so horrible and disgusting that you want to avoid it.
7. tolerate- If you tolerate something, you accept it even though you don’t like it.
8. teem- If a place is teeming with people or animals, it is crowded and the people or animals are moving around a lot.
Lesson 14
1. dainty- Something that is dainty is delicate, small and pretty.
2. eloquent- If you are eloquent, you use words well to say what you mean and get people to think like you.
3. shard- A sharp and pointy piece of broken glass, pottery, or metal is called a shard.
4. torment- If something torments you, it causes you great mental or physical suffering.
5. disheveled- If someone looks disheveled, their hair or clothes are very messy.
6. excruciating- Something that is excruciating is very, very painful.
7. fickle- If someone is fickle, they change their mind a lot about what they think or want.
8. overreact- If you overreact to a situation, you respond to it more strongly than you should.
Lesson 15
1. epidemic – If there is an epidemic of something, it affects a large number of people and spreads quickly
2. detach – If you detach something, you remove or separate it from another thing.
3. evidently – If something is evidently true, there is proof that it is true.
4. gaze – Someone’s gaze is how they are looking at something, especially when they are looking steadily at it.
5. destiny – If something is your destiny, it will happen to you and you cannot change it.
6. bleak – If a situation is bleak, it is bad and unlikely to get better.
7. presume – If you presume that something is so, you think it is so, but you are no sure.
8. rebuff – If you rebuff someone, you rudely refuse them and make them go away.

1. Possession - Your possessions are the things you own
2. Venture - If you venture somewhere, you go somewhere even though it might be dangerous
3. Scarcely - You use scarcely to say that something is just barely the case
4. Keen - If someone is keen, they are very aware and able to see even the most minor details
5. Scrutinize - When you scrutinize something, you look at it very closely and carefully
6. Quandrary - If you are in a quandary, you have to make a decision but you can’t decide what to do
7. Elucidate - If you elucidate something, you make it clear and easy to understand
8. Plentiful - If something is plentiful, there is so much of it that there’s enough for everyone
Lesson 17
1. Skim - If something skims over something else, it moves very quickly along the top of it
2. Insistent - If you say something in an insistent way, you keep telling people that it is so, even if they disagree
3. Unscathed - If you are unscathed after something dangerous happens, you have not been hurt by it
4. Subtle - If something is subtle, you may not notice it right away because it doesn’t stand out
5. Maneuver - When you maneuver something, you move it for a particular reason
6. Intense - When something is intense, it is very strong or goes to an extreme degree
7. Audacious - An audacious person tries some wild things, even taking risks, to reach their goals
8. Fanatical - Someone is fanatical if they feel so strongly about something that it’s almost crazy
Lesson 18
1. Prosper - If someone prospers, they are successful and do very well.
2. Reputation - Your reputation is what you are known for or what other people think of you.
3. Transpire - When something transpires a certain way, it happens or develops that way.
4. Squander - If you squander money or a chance to do something, you waste it for a foolish reason.
5. Flabbergasted - Someone who is flabbergasted is so surprised that they don't know what to think.
6. Altercation - An altercation is a noisy argument or disagreement.
7. Speculate - If you speculate about something, you make guesses about what it is or what might happen.
8. Verify - If you verify something, you carefully check to make sure that it is true.
Lesson 19
1. amiable – If you are amiable, you are friendly and people like being around you.
2. consistent – Things that are consistent act, happen, or look about the same each time.
3. expedition – If you go on an expedition, you take an important trip to reach a particular goal.
4. extravaganza – If something is an extravaganza, it is extremely fantastic and amazing.
5. indomitable – Someone who is indomitable never gives up or admits defeat.
6. jaunt – A jaunt is a short trip that you go on for fun.
7. texture – The texture of something is the way it feels when you touch it.
8. vivacious – If you are vivacious, you are lively and exciting.
Lesson 20
1. mischief- mischief is something that irritates or annoys people but doesn’t seriously hurt anyone or anything
2. recruit- If you recruit people for something you are doing, you convince them to help you do it.
3. nonchalant- If someone is nonchalant, they seem calm and don’t seem to worry about what happens.
4. undeterred- If you are undeterred, you keep doing something, even when other people try to stop you.
5. meander- Someone or something that meanders moves slowly and not in a straight line.
6. apprehension- If you feel apprehension, you are afraid that something bad might happen.
7. sleuth- A sleuth is someone who solves mysteries or investigates crimes.
8. hunch- If you have a hunch about something, you have a strong feeling it is true, even though you don’t have any proof.
